Our talented Cookery students showcased their skills at the Prepare Produce Provide Regional Final, organised in partnership with the Australian Culinary Federation, where school teams competed to create an outstanding savoury or sweet dish.
Dianella Secondary College students entered the savoury competition, with teams challenged to prepare a dish using both white and dark chicken meat while incorporating an Indigenous ingredient to enhance the flavours. Students were also assessed on their teamwork, organisation and culinary techniques throughout the competition.
Our students achieved outstanding results:
- Two Year 11 students claimed 1st Place with their Finger Lime Chicken Katsu served with katsu sauce, Asian slaw and jasmine rice.
- Two Year 12 students (DSC & NNEI) earned 2nd Place for their Lemon Myrtle Chicken Duo served with lemon myrtle sauce, brunoise carrots, broccolini and fondant potatoes.
- Two Year 11 students (DSC & NNEI) finished 3rd Place with their Pepperberry Teriyaki Chicken Poke Bowl.
- Two Year 11 students also impressed the judges with their Chicken Karaage served with sesame slaw, spicy mayonnaise and steamed rice.
Every team demonstrated exceptional teamwork, creativity and professionalism, producing dishes of an outstanding standard. Their success reflects the dedication and skill they have developed through the College’s Cookery Learning Area.
Congratulations to all of our competitors on their fantastic achievements. We wish Angela and Summer every success as they progress to the National Finals in September, where they will represent the region on the national stage.
