Dianella Secondary College hosted the annual Rotary Four Way Test Speaking Competition breakfast in partnership with the Rotary Club of Matilda Bay. The event, held in the Lily Café, provided selected Year 10 students with the opportunity to present a six-minute speech based on a topic of their choice while addressing the four principles of Rotary’s Four Way Test.
Students explored a range of contemporary issues through thoughtful and well-prepared presentations. Anastasia spoke about homelessness and the rising cost of living in Western Australia, highlighting the importance of community goodwill and support. Aieshia addressed the challenges of public speaking and encouraged audiences to create supportive environments where every voice can be heard. Lucia examined the environmental and ethical impacts of generative artificial intelligence, advocating for a balanced and responsible approach to its use. Bontu discussed the impacts of wrongful incarceration and the importance of providing meaningful support and compensation for those affected.
All students presented with confidence, professionalism, and clarity. Lucia was named the overall winner and will progress to the competition semi-finals later in the year, while Anastasia was recognised as runner-up.
