Dianella Secondary College is proud to be recognised as a finalist in the 2025 WA Education Awards for Excellence in Cultural Responsiveness.
Set in a vibrant and culturally diverse community, our College is committed to building an inclusive environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. This recognition highlights the ongoing dedication of our staff and community in embedding Aboriginal perspectives, knowledge, and culture across all areas of learning.
Through the leadership of our Aboriginal Education Coordinator, we have developed strong partnerships with Aboriginal families and Elders, fostering programs that celebrate identity, connection, and pride.
Signature initiatives such as Dookerniny Garbala (Late Afternoon Cooking), co-created with our Elder-in-Residence, and Wariny Marrakool (Making with Hands) Art Club provide meaningful opportunities for students to collaborate with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists, strengthening cultural understanding and creativity.
This nomination acknowledges the collective efforts of our staff, students, and community in making Dianella Secondary College a place where Aboriginal learners can grow, express themselves, and succeed with confidence.
We are honoured to be recognised among outstanding schools and educators across Western Australia.
