What a momentous occasion it was yesterday at the official opening ceremony of our Dandjoo Performing Arts Centre! Guests gathered at the Lily Café before being escorted down the driveway by our student Flag bearers, proudly adorned in cultural attire representing the rich diversity of our school community.
Among the distinguished guests were Hon. Tony Buti, Minister for Education; Steve Watson, Director of Education; Hon. Amber-Jade Sanderson MLA, Minister for Health, Mental Health, and Member for Morley; Associate Professor Matthew Byrne from ECU School of Education and School Board Member, along with other esteemed school board members, principals from our partner NNEI Schools and our Precinct, architects, builders of the arts centre, Dandjoo Mural Artist Lawry Halden, representatives from Sudbury House, various school partners, and the proud parents of our performers.
The ceremony commenced with a heartfelt acknowledgment of country by Karalee, followed by a mesmerizing performance from our Waranka Dandjoo Multicultural Choir. Esteemed guests delivered inspiring speeches to a captivated audience of parents, students, and partners, culminating in a sneak peek video of the upcoming performance. The dance showcase that followed was a breathtaking display of the myriad cultures that enrich our school, a testament to our unity and inclusivity. The energy was electric, and all of our students who performed were fantastic representatives and ambassadors for their culture.
